Workshop for coordinators Horizon Europe 2026: Cluster 6, Cluster 5-Climate, 3 Missions and CBE

On Monday, March 16, at 9:30 a.m., CDTI is organizing a workshop for coordinators of proposals for the 2026 Horizon Europe calls . This in-person event will use the structure of Horizon Europe's three evaluation criteria (excellence, impact, and implementation) and the template provided to help participants ask the National Contact Points (NCPs) any questions they may have about preparing their proposals for each of these sections. Participants must register and send a draft of their proposals to lydia.gonzalez@cdti.es by Wednesday, March 11th (at 12:00 pm) . Only those who submit a draft of their proposals in advance will be admitted to the workshop. A minimum of one participant per coordinated proposal will be accepted, and the participation of a second participant will be considered. Those interested will be notified on the afternoon of March 11th, depending on the number of applications received. That same afternoon, or later in the day, the NCPs will schedule bilateral meetings with the participants to discuss their proposals and clarify any doubts they may have.

Food security, sovereignty and resilience: the role of short marketing channels

On March 16, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., the webinar "Food Security, Sovereignty, and Resilience: The Role of Short Supply Chains" will take place online. Within the framework of the European projects EU4Advice and COREnet , this webinar addresses how short supply chains can strengthen food sovereignty and the resilience of local agri-food systems in the face of geopolitical, climate, and global supply crises. The session will begin with a presentation on French food safety regulations, followed by a roundtable discussion with experts who will analyze the CCCs from four perspectives: regulatory, technological, social innovation, and business model. “Seeds of the Mediterranean: Water Management in Agriculture for Mediterranean Regions”

The webinar is organized by the Portuguese National CAP Network, the Greek CAP Strategic Plan and the Spanish CAP Network, members of the Mediterranean Cluster, a cooperation platform that brings together the National CAP Networks of the EU's Mediterranean Member States for monthly exchanges, moderated by the EU CAP Network. The participating countries of the Mediterranean Cluster are: Italy, France, Romania, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Cyprus and Croatia. During one of the recent face-to-face meetings of the Mediterranean Cluster, the idea arose to create a recurring series of webinars to give greater visibility to innovative projects, share transferable solutions between countries and strengthen collaboration in the Mediterranean region. As a result, in 2026 the Mediterranean Cluster will launch a new webinar series entitled "Seeds of the Mediterranean." This series will include a webinar every four months, each focusing on a relevant topic such as water management, climate resilience, natural resources, or agricultural innovation. EU CAP Network is organizing a seminar in Brussels on the right to remain for young farmers and rural youth.

On March 11, 2026 , the EU CAP Network will hold in Brussels (Belgium) the face-to-face seminar “Ensuring the right to stay for young farmers and rural youth” , a working day focused on turning the EU Strategy for Generational Change in Agriculture into concrete actions at the national and regional level . The meeting will take place from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CET) at the Renaissance Hotel and will be conducted entirely in English , without interpretation services. Participation is free and registration is open until February 5th. Facing the generational challenge of rural Europe European rural areas face a major demographic challenge: the average age of farmers in the EU is approaching 60 and only 12% are under 40 , while one in three rural young people consider leaving their territory due to a lack of opportunities, services and social isolation. In this context, the seminar aims to serve as a space for exchange, dialogue and the creation of alliances to advance solutions that make agriculture and rural life more attractive to new generations, aligned with the European Strategy for Generational Change. Free demonstration workshop: use of composting technologies for organic waste management

On Wednesday, March 11, 2026 , from 09:00 to 14:00 , the free demonstration workshop “Use of Composting Technologies for the Management of Organic Waste” will be held in Yátova (Valencia) , a practical day aimed at learning how to apply composting technologies to transform organic waste into high quality compost and improve soil fertility and health . This activity is part of a knowledge transfer project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) and seeks to bring participants closer to the basics of the composting process, the materials that can be used, its phases and the main agronomic and environmental benefits of its use. IRNASA-CSIC holds a conference in Salamanca on the biological control of the common vole

The Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Salamanca (IRNASA-CSIC) is organizing the in-person workshop “Biological Control of the Common Vole,” which will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Muñovela Experimental Farm (Barbadillo, Salamanca). The workshop will focus on biological control strategies based on promoting the recovery of birds of prey that prey on the rodent through the installation of nest boxes , as a sustainable and economical alternative to the use of toxic pesticides and other less sustainable practices. The activity is part of the European project OH-FINE (Organic Farming Innovations Network Europe) , funded by the European Union (Horizon Europe) and by the SERI (Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation) of Switzerland, and aimed at promoting organic production and agroecological practices through innovation and knowledge exchange. The RIA-CCC project (Innovation and Advisory Network for Short Supply Chains) offers a new opportunity to further explore the regulations applicable to Short Supply Chains (SSCs) . Virtual meeting on access to land and generational renewal

Access to agricultural land is one of the main challenges for joining the agricultural sector: high prices, scarce availability and various barriers that hinder entrepreneurship in the countryside and slow down generational renewal . To address this reality from different perspectives, Plataforma Tierra is organizing a virtual meeting next Thursday, March 5 , from 5:00 to 6:00 pm , in which a panel of experts will analyze the current challenges to accessing land and taking the step towards agricultural activity. The supra-regional Operational Group MAXI-CoberLEG will hold a field demonstration workshop on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Naranjas del Carmen farm (Bétera, Valencia) , with the aim of bringing the project's progress and lessons learned to the sector under real plot conditions. MAXI-CoberLEG works to maximize the benefits of cover crops by selecting and managing winter legumes (such as native lupins) to improve the sustainability and resilience of citrus systems, with impacts on soil, functional biodiversity and productivity. Current governance of irrigation reservoirs in Spain

The session will be held at the headquarters of the Institute of Engineering of Spain ( C/ General Arrando nº 38, Madrid ) starting at 9:00 a.m. , with an institutional opening by Mª Cruz Díaz Álvarez , president of the Institute of Engineering of Spain; José Mª González Ortega , president of AERYD ; and Cristina Clemente Martínez , deputy director general of Irrigation, Natural Paths and Rural Infrastructures of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) . The program includes two roundtables that will address governance from different perspectives. The first, scheduled for 9:15 a.m. , will focus on the viewpoint of the central government and irrigators , with the participation of representatives from the General Directorate of Public Water Resources and Infrastructure (MITECO) , MAPA , SEIASA , FENACORE , SPANCOLD , and Civil Protection . Following a coffee break at 11:15 a.m. , the second roundtable, at 11:45 a.m. , will analyze governance from the perspective of the autonomous communities , with presentations from the Valencian Government , the Aragonese Water Institute , the Regional Government of Extremadura , and representatives from the Region of Murcia , Andalusia , Castile and León, and the Government of the Balearic Islands . The day will conclude with a colloquium (2:00 pm) and a closing ceremony (2:45 pm) with representatives from MITECO , Grupo Tragsa and AERYD .
